10 Essential Reasons Why People Blog
In the beginning, my main question was: what is the reason people blog? And since i embarked on that journey passionately, i will explain in detail.
Today, blogs have become a really essential part of what’s needed for most of the generation worldwide.
There are lot of blogs on the internet. And trust me, before this time, life was never so tech-savvy like this.
Whether one needs a piece of advice, wants to share a personal experience, to stay updated on the views on any topic, all one needs is to do is dig and punch in a few buttons and write a blog.
And with the creation of blogs, conventional writing has taken a back seat as blogging gets you the reactions from all over the world. It provides a medium for you to say things and be heard.
Generally, or maybe in the past, the word ‘blog’ used to mean a personal online diary, typically concerned with boyfriend problems or techie news. Lol.
But after some time, a set of a new or refocused media junkie, political sites reshaped the entire Internet media landscape.
The word ‘blog’ now refers to a vast web journal that comments on happenings around the world in clever tones — with links to stories that back up the commentary with evidence.
And below is are some of the reasons most people blog:
Top 10 reasons people write blogs:
1. To Share Valuable Knowledge
Some people or lots of individuals start a blog to share their knowledge and write about what they know. Especially the extremely curious types, as they understand the knowledge they have is precious, they should document and share the same.
And it actually makes sense, as one also learns more by teaching others, i do too and since blogging requires you to research more, and come up with and put down the best version of your knowledge.
2. Because of Their Hobby/Interest in Writing
This ranks high in the most common reasons people blog.
Most people like to write and almost 42% like to write for themselves. Because this is what blogging is all about. It is why blogging started, and it is still why blogging exists.
These categories of people don’t care about the best blogging platforms, how to get more traffic, and how to increase the number of comments. They just want to write because they love to, and if someone comments, then hey, that’s a good bonus too.
That being said, i made it clear that “blogging out of passion” should be every blogger’s biggest reason for blogging, then other reasons are secondary.
3. To Build Their Network
Blogging is a great way of meeting new people, virtually, globally and locally. Blogging helps us spread ideas and connections beyond geographical boundaries.
A blog is one of the best ways to connect with like-minded people around the world, and also share your thoughts about certain matters. Also, the comment section of a blog is like a gold mine, where we also get to hear others’ opinions, points of view on the topic we are writing on.
What better way could there be to connect and talk about a common interest with a stranger?
4. The Digital Nomad lifestyle
A digital nomadic lifestyle is not an unfamiliar concept, and a lot of individuals like to travel the world and work. Blogging is one of the things that gives you this opportunity, as you can work from anywhere you find yourself and at your pace.
Harsh Agrawal, the Founder of ShoutMeLoud, has lived a digital nomadic lifestyle for years, and in his own words, he said: “I can’t think of any better profession that could have given me an opportunity to travel the world, learn from the wisdom of different cultures if this would not have been blogging”.
Harsh’s Instagram profile is a reflection of his grandeur lifestyle. And now, being a digital nomad is a pop-culture, and a lot of individuals out there are adapting as a new norm.
5. For Fame or Popularity
Lots of study has proven that when people see any successful person, they try to follow that path, re-apply it it it could work for them.
When I was a kid, I used to see Christiano Ronaldo (a famous footballer) and I wanted to become a footballer. When I also see movie actors on posters and newspapers and TVs, I wanted to become a film star. But in reality, this is not just me, this is just the human tendency in every human.
This is also true that pertains to the blogging industry. When people see successful bloggers like Brian Clark (my mentor), Darren Rowse, Amit Agarwal, Tim Ferriss, or other bloggers who have money and fame, they aspire and try to be like them.
Actually, this not a bad approach, but what they’re forgetting to remind themself is that all of these famous and successful bloggers are blogging because it’s their ultimate passion.
Let this ring a loud bell to you again, passion is the foundation of successful blogging.
Not only is a quick fame and fortune a misguided reason for starting a blog, but it’s also not possible. I’m not really sorry to say this, but sorry…
Every man’s success is preceded by a lot of difficulties, and if you want to become a famous and successful blogger, you need to know that it’s going to take you a while to get there.
it took me seven good years to make my first million. At start, we all need to crawl; it’s impossible to jump or fly instantly.
6. Some For making money
Another reason why people blog is because new bloggers look at professional bloggers and think, “Oh, all I need to do is write a few things, click a few buttons, and I can make a lot of money blogging!” But this is extremely unreal and untrue.
The majority of people blog for money and while you can make money blogging, I need to say it again: “If there’s no sufficient passion, you will find making money very difficult.
Luckily, blogging can be a gold mine for people who want to tap into the rich field of virtual marketing, but if your goal is just to make money, you’ll make more money at a traditional job.
If you want to make money blogging, you should have a well-planned strategy for your blog, and be able to target a profitable niche.
7. To connect with like-minded people
Generally, blogging helps us bring in together the people who think alike.
Most times, they help you to take your thoughts forward. Through blogs lots of idea sharing takes place, that could not have been possible otherwise.
8. To create awareness or get your voice heard
This also is one reason why people blog. At times, It just takes a simple move to start something big. Lots of blogs are issue-based, which means the blogger is trying to provide information to sway people’s thinking in a certain direction.
Talking of political blogs and social issues blogs are written by bloggers who are trying to make a difference in their own ways. Blogs like that bring people together and connect them.
For example, if you witness any injustice and you decide to raise your voice about that on your blog so that lots of people react on that and probably there could be a mass movement.
9. Self Promotion and build your personal brand–
Blogging is an excellent way to promote yourself in the field of one’s’ expertise. By writing good blogs one can share the knowledge as will showcase your skills in front of your potential visitors or employees, who would read your blogs.
It will also help legitimize your expertise and expand your virtual presence and platform. It can also help in promoting your credibility.
10. To help others
Many blogs are written just to help people going through a certain phase or circumstances like break-ups, disease, parenting, depression and so on. It is somehow difficult to talk to someone personally on these topics. This is one good reason why people blog.
Blogging in this aspect also makes them feel that they are the only one going through such a phase, but there are so many others who are going through the same situation and reading those blogs that helps.
